Fifty plus years after February 1, 1960 when four North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University (NC A&T) freshmen sat down at Woolworth lunch counter projecting Greensboro, NC onto the national and international stage with the sit-in movement, members of Greensboro business organizations working through the unelected University of North Carolina (BOG) and Erskine Bowles UNC-General Administration (GA), and University of North Carolina-Greensboro repackaged Jim Crow for the 21st Century  re-established a dual system of education with the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering at Gateway Research, slaved out NC A&T alleging economic development serving private interest at public expense

FIRST Tech Challenge
On Saturday Feb. 25th, 2012 NC  A&T served as host for FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics competition for high school students (grades 9-12). Where teams of up to 10 students, with adult leaders and mentors, build a small remote-controlled robot using a custom robotic platform created specifically for FIRST Tech Challenge. Each year's game is different, and teams must strategize, design and build their robots accordingly. At competitions, two-team alliances square off in successive two-and-a-half minute rounds combining autonomous and operator-controlled play. Teams can earn awards in areas that include engineering, design excellence, competitive play and sportsmanship.
 
FIRST LEGO TO HOLD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT AT A&T

GREENSBORO, N. C. - The North Carolina FIRST LEGOŽ League (FLL), will hold its state championship tournament at North Carolina A&T State University on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, in Corbett Sports Center. The tournament begins at 8:30 a.m., and will open to the public at 12:30 p.m. with the opening ceremony and parade of teams.
